Pivitec was founded in March, 2010 by industry veterans Dan Garrett and Tom Knesel. Tom and Dan worked together at Aviom, where Dan was a co-founder and VP of Sales and Marketing and Tom National Sales Manager. Their new product, the Pivitec Personal Monitor Mixing System, is composed of two elements: 1, a hardware based audio network, 2, a fully featured mixing application (Pivitec’s V² Mix App) running on wireless devices like iPads and iPhones (Android devices later this year, including a preloaded 7” tablet). The current product line up is as follows, with more planned for later in 2012.

Two monitors in one!
One of the major SM9 innovations lies in the fact of offering 2 monitoring speakers in only one and unique cabinet. The SM9 is thus composed of 2 monitors:

• a 3-way monitor (Beryllium tweeter + 6.5″ “W” woofer + 8″ “W” subwoofer + 11″ passive radiator). This monitor offers a frequency response from 30Hz to 40kHz for total control of the audio signal permitting extremely precise work.

• a 2-way monitor (Beryllium tweeter + 6.5” “W” woofer). This monitor offers a frequency response from 90Hz to 40kHz, permitting to check the mix transfer quality on systems with limited frequency response in the bass frequencies for example TV sets, computers, cars, iPod docks or any multimedia system. This monitor also permits to check the midrange register, very hard to equalize and balance in terms of sound level compared to the other information contained in the audio signal. Pure Beryllium inverted dome tweeter
The inverted dome tweeter is a hallmark of Focal. Introduced more than twenty years ago, this tweeter produces a high output, but without requiring high energy input and without increasing directivity. The introduction of the pure Beryllium dome, capable of covering 5 full octaves from 1,000 to 40,000Hz constitutes a new decisive advance regarding new audio formats. The “W” cone
Focal has been developing the technologies of composite sandwich cones for more than 15 years. The «W» process (Glass/Foam/Glass)
provides a true optimization of the frequency response by fine tuning of mass, rigidity and damping parameters. The balance between these 3 fundamental and often contradictory parameters is at the basis of the outstanding sound neutrality of our speakers.

Passive radiator
In order to reproduce the lowest frequency range within a very small volume without any air flow noises, the SM9 is equipped with a no compromise, custom designed “W”  passive radiator.

High performance tailor-made amplification
The SM9 uses low distortion class AB power stages for low (400W), mid (100W) and high frequency (100W) channels, entirely respecting the dynamics of the low level audio  signal and ensuring total transparency.

The NSEQ-4 features:

• World’s first (and only) all-discrete, true differential Class-A input buffer/amplifier.
• Selectable balanced or unbalanced input.
• Greatly improved 3rd generation FSA-03 all-discrete EQ amplifier
• Improved output stage, no muting required (as with Twin Topology)
• True hard-wire bypass when EQ not selected
• Upgraded power supply leading to improved sonic performance

The NSEQ-4 uses the same Dove Topology Constant Amplitude Phase Shift Circuit filters as the NSEQ-2.

The integrated amplifier is a two channel unit – the Class D low frequency section delivering 180 watts while the Class AB high frequency section delivers 50 watts – which provides a balanced XLR microphone input and balanced line input on a jack/XLR connector with individual level controls, as well as overall bass and treble tone controls.

A balanced male XLR output provides a line level mix-out signal to additional powered MILAN enclosures. Mains power is supplied via an IEC main connector with integrated fuseholder. The trapezoidal cabinet is constructed from gas-injected polypropylene, self-coloured in blue/black, with a powder-coated perforated galvanised steel mesh grille, and the symmetrical 43° angled sides enable use as a wedge monitor. A dual-angle pole mount socket is fitted, and a recessed flush handle is provided on the top. Rigging points are provided on the top and bottom to enable vertical or horizontal suspension in permanent installations using M10 eyebolts.
